DENTISTRY

Sycamore Lodge offers both routine and advanced dental care for your horse. Routine dental care can be provided at your stables whereas more advanced procedures are performed in the clinic with the horse safely restrained in our stocks. Horses should ideally have their teeth checked every year.

Problems such as bad breath, nasal discharge or quidding (dropping balls of food) should be investigated and treated.

Sycamore Lodge is well equipped and experienced in dealing with all manner of dental (and sinus!) problems.

The horses sinuses and teeth are intimately related. Often horses with infection of their cheek teeth (back molars) can have a sinusitis secondary to the infected tooth. This requires not only removal of the infected tooth but also treatment of the sinus infection.

The most common sign of sinusitis is a foul smelling, persistent nasal discharge from one nostril.
